Let me tell you about a Transformer I never knew existed.
I bought this figure at an antique shop at the weekend I almost missed it as it was displayed in alt mode, upon closer inspection ( a glance underneath ) I was certain it was a Transformer but it was a character I didnt recognize.
This came as some surprise, although I dont profess to having an encyclopedic knowledge of the franchise this was a late G1 possibly G2 character that I had literally never seen before! needless to say my interest was piqued and TFWiki answered my questions, Botch supplied the boxart and I took the photo ( you can follow me on instagram here http://instagram.com/harleylabeau :) )
Now this is one obscure character his name is Calcar or possibly Roadraider but I prefer Calcar.
As I am missing the weapon ( which sported the only faction symbol ) and I have no packaging I had to rely on the wiki to tell me this was a Decepticon, the second time I was surprised by this toy.
He belongs to a sub group ( of two ) called the Trakkons and shares this honor with the slightly more famous, being as it is that Ive actually heard of him Fearswoop.
They both make appearances in LSOTW but Calcars was alot more forgettable and unlike Fearswoop Calcars name has never been used for another figure ( Fearswoop making an odd looking appearance in ROTF )
Without the packaging Im unable to tell if this is a G1 or G2 figure coming as it does from the late euro exclusive time of G1 and having a rerelease in G2 with no alterations apart from the packaging, so Im going to go with what my heart tells me and say that this is by far the most obscure G1 toy in my collection.

A BRIEF HISTORY OF TRANSFORMING ROBOT TOYS
PART 2 JAZZ
If you missed part 1 check it out here -
As mentioned in part 1 there was another original 1984 Autobot car with this unusual pre-diaclone heritage.
The 1977 ” Microman Command, Cosmo Car Series 3, Cosmo - Porsche ” was available in three colors the white version bearing a striking resemblance to Jazz.
Unlike Sunstreaker this early version of Jazz transformed from a stylized Porsche 935 Turbo to a dragster.
Once again 1982 saw the release of ” Diaclone Car Robots No.14 Porsche 935 Turbo “
Pictured above are the original patents along with a prototype reissue Meister.
