Im finally caught up with Beast Hunters thanks to http://www.youtube.com/user/Wheeljack1768
I wasn’t really the biggest fan of Prime and i really thought Beast Hunters would be the push I needed to go from indifference to dislike for the series but as it stands so far I’m enjoying it.
From what I have heard the inclusion of the beasts came from Hasbro and required the writers of the show to abandon the direction they had plotted for the 3rd season to allow for the introduction of the predacons.
I think the restrictions placed on the producers forcing them to highlight the new line of toys has changed the pacing for the better and while the dropping of many plot points that were established in season 2 is shame ( notably Starscreams return to the Decepticons ) this change of direction has got me hooked to the show again.
The inclusion of Bumblebees toy accurate re-deco ( almost certainly added to help sell said toy ) was handled well and Primes upgraded and toy acculturate model is awesome ( I cant wait for that to be released in the UK )
The writers have done themselves and the fans credit on the difficult job of shoehorning the new toys into the show and I cant wait to see where this is going. I’m sure the season is going to go out on a high note and I will be sad to see it end.
You probably noticed the title of this post and the distinct lack of ponies so far but I’m getting to that ( feel free to tune out now if your only here for the robots )
There has been a lot of talk ( mainly negative ) in the pony fandom on the subject of the last episode of season 3 of FIM specifically Twilight becoming an alicorn princess ( an idea that came from Hasbro for the purpose of selling toys ) as she is my favorite character I really don’t have a subjective opinion on this ( I think she looks cute with wings ) but just like on Beast Hunters I think that the writers will be able to handle what seems to be a rather odd change of direction in an interesting and creative way ( I have enjoyed FIM a lot more than Prime and if anyone can make this rather bizarre plot twist work its the writers of MLP )
So to sum up and try and make a point of all this I guess that you can make dramatic changes to plot of a show for marketing reasons and still have and enjoyable show so long as you have talented writers at the helm of said show, Beast Hunters ( to me at least ) has proved this and I now eagerly await the coming season of FIM, but Equestria Girls on the other hand …
